Diocesan Level Events
Preparatory documents can be found at
Most parishes in the Diocese of Aberdeen have now completed their consultations and the Synod team are now synthesizing the results. Shetland Parish submitted its report at the end of March 2022.
Synod Report, April 2022.
The following pdf contains a summary of discussions in the Shetland parish held in February and March 2022.
There were two discussion groups in Lerwick, two Zoom meetings open to parishioners throughout Shetland, and a retreat day on the Synod themes of Communion, Participation, and Mission held on Papa Stour.
In addition to these formal meetings we also consulted the children attending Children's Liturgy and parishioners in Yell and Unst.
What comes next?
The bishops will take our contributions with them to the Synod of Bishops to be held in Rome in October 2023.
Some of the discussions focused more narrowly on concerns of the Shetland Parish and these will be discussed at the next meeting of the Parish Council.
Our aim will be to produce a parish document which affirms what is good, makes suggestions for what could be improved, and corrects whatever is not working well.
